Not Back to School Hop: MSA Schedule

I am very excited that our school year is almost upon us!!! I have worked out on paper what I "plan" to do with our day. We will be adding dance, gymnastics, and a Co-Op day into our schedule. Since dance and gymnastics are in the late afternoon, it will just take place of T.V or outside play. Our Co-Op day doesn't really interfere with our school planning as we only do a 4 day week. This will be our first year of having a timed schedule. I'm sure some things will change but for the most part I'm hoping this will pan out and we will enjoy a great start to our new year!!! Our schedule is fit for our family which has 3 children ages 8 (boy),6 (boy), and 3(girl).

Not Back to School Hop: Student Week

I thought I was too late for Student Week on Heart of the Matter but after checking the linky is still up!!

As we are in the process of unpacking, I have come to realize that I don't have the cable for my camera and that means no "school" pictures. Boo! I do, however, have some great shots taken over the summer that I would love to share with you instead!! I am honored to introduce to you my prized pupils at
MorningStar Acadamey!!!

This is LJ, my 8 almost 9 year old! This is one of my favorite pictures from our trip to Okuma.

This is JJ and he is 6 years old. Hard to believe he was on 4 months when we first arrived in Okinawa!!!
And this is CJ, I had to post a picture that captured all the spunk she has!

Week 2: Not Back-to-School Blog Hop

Not Back to School Blog Hop

So this week on Heart of the Matter, the Not Back to School blog Hop continues and we venture into the "School Room". I think my saliva glands are working over time as was just drooling at what Mama Jenn has done with her space!!! I had to check out TheJoyfulChaos and loved the paper tip she shared as well as her very organized room. I spotted a table/desk over at Raising Olives that I'm going to beg Big Daddy to make for me!!! I so wish I was as put together as Sergeant Major Mom is but I guess I need to get all my household goods for that to happen.

See we are a Marine Corps family and just got back to the States after spending almost 6 years in Japan. We are all sleeping on air mattresses, wearing wrinkled clothes since we are still living out of suit cases and laundry baskets.I wont buy any coat hangers or an iron since I know we have those things coming and it still echoes when you talk in our home. I had decided not to post this week since I don't have any photos to show but early this morning God spoke a word of encouragement into my heart and I would like to share it with you!!!

God reminded me this morning that my "school" room isn't made up of neatly organized books, desks all lined up in a row, or even the curriculum we picked for this year that seems just perfect for our little family. Nope!! My "school" room is their little hearts as well as mine!!!! As our school year begins in a couple of weeks, that is also when my household goods "should" arrive. This will also be the first year we participate in a Co-Op so I'm sure that adjustment will be a bit crazy as well. Do you see where this is going!!! In a few weeks I will be busy with alot of S-T-U-F-F. But all that S-T-U-F-F isn't what really matters; they are. How thankful I am that in the calm before the storm, God sat me down on His lap and had this little talk with me!!!

But no worries! I'll share my "school rooms" with you next week

MorningStar Academy

Not Back to School Blog Hop

is almost back in session!!!! And yes I'm getting very excited. As much as I tried to be ready before the move, I just made some final decisions on curriculum for this year.  For the last  3 years we have home schooled overseas and that has meant pretty much doing it how we wanted. Since we didn't know which state we would end up in or how long we would be overseas, we just did things easy come easy go. THEN we were transferred to NC,  a state I love but they do testing every year!!!! It is the one thing I loath and think is not necessary until high school. (Note: This is just my opinion) So I kinda lost focus of why we home school as I started to stress about them being ready to test and lost focus of what is in the best interest of our kids. Then I came across a wonderful post written by The Happy Housewife. It was just what I needed to refocus on what WE need to be doing this year. I am very excited to participate in the Not Back to School Blog Hop at Heart of the Matter Online. I am hoping to connect with some great families out there as well as get some insight on  what curriculum is floating around out there!!!!
