Homeschool Mother's Journal 3-19-11

So I found a neat linky party that I'm going to try to keep up with and hopefully meet some friendly homeschool moms and find some great new blogs to read!!!!! I also think this is the perfect way to keep up with our homeschooling days and keep our memories alive for when I'm way to old to remember anymore, lol. So here are my writing prompts and of course my answers!!!!!

The Homeschool Mother's Journal

In my life this week...
It was very busy as it was a MOPS week and I also developed a headache that still hasn't gone away. I will have to start tracking my food intake and see what the trigger is.... sigh just when I think I have it figured out.

In our homeschool this week...
we stayed on track and finished all that was planned, yeah. The boys are working hard on memory verses and I'm working on getting JJ to be more of a confident  independent reader. LJ and I started on a book about Michelangelo, it's going to be tough getting through it but CJ loves looking at the pictures and I think it is encouraging her in her quest to learn to read!! Score 1 for literacy, yeah!!!!

Places we're going and people we're seeing...
We invited our new neighbors to join us for ECHO and I think they are going to join!!! Yeah. JJ has bowling on Saturday and CJ has another soccer game. LJ's time is coming as baseball season will be starting up very soon.

My favorite thing this week was...
Eating out at Riverview with the kids when Big Daddy had duty. We really needed a fun and relaxing time together.

What's working/not working for us...
I'm still working on a more structured routine and being more consistent with the kids helping me with chores.

Homeschool questions/thoughts I have...
Do you let your kids sleep in our wake them up in the morning?

A photo, video, link, or quote to share..
JJ working on the square gardens we are growing this year!

So to answer your question, the 14 year old is SUPPOSED to set his clock to get himself up by 7:15 every morning. I always let the little people sleep. There are currently 7 age 7 and under.

We have square foot boxes, but haven't gotten the dirt in them yet. We really need to do that soon!

Love the garden boxes! I've been reading about square-foot gardening, but I doubt I'll be ready before planting season this spring... maybe autumn, though!

Your garden boxes look beautiful!

Regarding the sleep question - it just depends. If I have a lot to do in the morning I won't wake them. Most days though, I do get them up. The 14 yo ds usually has to be d r a g g e d out of bed - but I do let him catch a nap most afternoons.

I love your blog. I am a new follower.

Hi I am new here and following from the homeschool mothers journal. It is so nice when the week goes well. I love the picture of JJ working in the garden. Very cute! I usually let my kids sleep until 9:00 or so. I usually don't start school till about 10:00. If I wake the kids up any earlier, they are just way to grumpy. My little one is usually relaxing on the couch. This gives me some quiet time to get ready for the day. I usually fill workboxes and get everything ready. I love you blog. Thanks for sharing your week!
