What do you think

So I have been apart of a discussion that took place on Raising Olives this week. But for me a deeper meaning is coming out of the whole conversation, which if you want to read it you can find her post here. So to be respectful to her and her readers I decided to copy my last comment here on my own blog to discuss since it isn't the original topic of the post. Let me preface this with I am still trying to work out all I feel I am discovering and is the reason I want to put it out for a bigger discussion. I am not asking you to agree with me but give you thoughts, your beliefs on this topic and be open to a respectful discussion. So here is the comment I submitted on Raising Olives:

Fellow Believers in Christ, since this post was originally wrote I have been wrestling with it in prayer. I just really felt like there was a deeper more underlining issue we are missing and as I was reading from the book Radical by David Platt, it hit me. We are assuming that our children are innocent and pure but that is not what the Bible tells us, it tells us from our very beginnings we are evil and have evil desires in our hearts. All you have to do is look at any child whose heart does not desire to obey their parents, we are all born with a will set against God. It is only when we are reconciled to God through accepting Christ as our Lord and Savior are we able to see the error of our ways and only through the power of the Holy Spirit are we able to turn from our sin and live a super natural life because of Christ and not because of anything we ourselves choose to do. I think that instead of discussing whether or not we should or shouldn't use nude pictures in educating our children I think it would be more fruitful for our children's salvation to be discussing why we don't teach them that they are indeed an abomination in the sight of God until they accept Christ into their hearts and then teach them that to accept Christ into their hearts means you fully surrender your life your passions your purpose to him to have God do as he wills in your life setting aside all self centeredness to humbly live a life that is pleasing to him.

yea, okay, wow...so it is true that evil is bound up in the heart of a child. As parents it is our first duty to teach them about Him and in doing so we are training them. That's not to say that we should BEAT our children, but we are to train them and teach them about Him.

Why do we home school? So we can teach them things they wouldn't learn in school ats wise or Christ wise? What is our goal as parents to teach them about Picaso or our precious Saviro?

It really doesn't matter if our children know five languages or one, who painted what and when, or who wrote what song and when. What matters is that they know Jesus as Savior and that they live their lives for Him. How do we make sure they know this is the most important thing?...by teaching them His words and His teachings. By showing them the amazing art of making us and the intricate details in how we work...our brain, heart, muscles, it's amazing! Then to move on to how the spirit isn't something that shows up on the computer screen when getting exrayed or checked out by the doctor. It's something that is between us and Christ. And yet it encumpeses all of who we are and runs deeper than any part of our physical body.

I hope this makes sence, if not please feel free to stop over at my journal to tell me. *smile* This is not ment in an argumentative tone in any way! Just in a very thoughtful way with a very cerious face way. With a frown with deep thought now and then. *smile* Have a great day growing in God and being the first teacher to your childern. *smile* Sincerely, Mommy of two little blessings & so much more!

I enjoyed the post and comment. We prefer the King James Bible like rapidnet.com not like avpublications. We liked Abeka art, Christian Light Education's art and keepersofthefaith.com art- all curriculums that use the KJB. Our Baptist church uses the KJB and the NASV but discourages the NIV because of its homosexual "editors".
