Spotlight Saturday: Ava

May 2, 2009
This week I would like to introduce you to Ava! What a sweetie she is.

(AVA) has defects that effect her larynx, trachea, epiglottis, palate, tongue, and skeletal system. Some of these defects obstruct her airway. That's all we know so far. She's been in/out of the hospital. She's hooked up to monitors 24/7 and lives in respiratory distress complete with blue spells, home nurses, and way too many doctors. We take it a day at a time.

It just amazes me, I don't know why, at God's perfect timing. I came across Ava's blog and as I was looking around I noticed that Ava has a big week ahead of her that actually started yesterday. So I would as that, at the minimum, please keep the following in your prayers:
**Friday, May 1st - 10 am Anesthesia Consult
**Monday, May 4th - 11 am head MRI (twilight sedation)**Tuesday, May 5th - 9 am chest CT (put to sleep)
**Tuesday, May 5th - 4:30 meeting with the aero docs (GI, pulmonology, ENT, and ped. surgeon)
**Wednesday, May 6th - Surgery , which includes :-ENT doing rigid bronchoscopy, microbiopsies of airway, and ear tubes-pulmonolgy doing flexable bronchoscopy and lavage to check for lipids in lungs-Gastroenterology doing endoscopy and microbiopsies of GI track
**Thursday, May 7th - 10:30 VSS (video swallow study)

And if you find the time stop by and leave some encouraging words for this beautiful family!!!!
