Life Long Learner

March 20, 2009

Yep that would be me!!! Good Morning Company Girls, Visitors, Family, and Friends. Today I just want to share my latest exciting sewing adventure: Making CJ's Easter dress from this pattern #6745 by Simplicity Patterns.

It wont be exactly like this as I am making her a SpongeBob dress and it wont have long sleeves. But it is one of the dress alternatives to this pattern. I'm very excited and even more excited as this has helped me to expand my knowledge of sewing. {My dream is to one day have a business sewing children's clothing. I only have one post but here is the future site of Fabric Lot; gotta start somewhere right!)
Oops, sorry my head is back out of the clouds. Here is what I have so far:

This will be the front

...and this will be the back, which will button up. That will be a whole new learning curve.

Learning curve for this week was:Read All Notions Required. I needed bias tape for the collar and arm holes. Yikes, so I just made some from extra fabric and I think it worked just fine.

Well we are off to go do some birthday shopping for Big Daddy. Still haven't decided on a cake theme. Thankfully Big Daddy really likes the store bought ones so I might just break down and buy one, to save time and make sure I have enough energy for some after party action. He-he-he.

So this is where I have spent most of my free time this week. I just can't get enough of all these codes. I haven't finished it all but I have made use of it on my blog. Adjusted my nav bar, put breaks between my buttons, and also found an easy way to put my weekly reading list into a column form, go me!!!! I'm hoping to figure out how to make my tags look like the ones Scrapping Servant has, we shall see!!!!

HTML: An Interactive Tutorial for Beginners - Learn to Code HTML!

Father, thank you for blessing this family with such a wonderful leader. As we celebrate his birthday I ask that You bless him with productivity in his work, fruit in his service to You, honor among his friends, and that he always be respected by his family. Let us always see him as the man of honor You created him to be and help us to always look upon him as You see him. May he have good health, peace that surpasses all understanding, and joy that the world can not steal. Thank you for creating such a wonderful father, husband, and friend. In Jesus Name I ask these things, Amen

oh isn't that cute! I've got a bunch of material that I just haven't done much with yet.. that looks like something that would be fun!

have fun learning html! it's not too hard and once you understand the basics, you can do a lot more.. it's easier to understand what's going on! I took classes years back and still have found it handy!
God Bless!!

You are so talented, Brandy! I love seeing all your sewing creations. ;)

I think my SB ribbon will go so nicely with the bodice fabric you are showing on the blog. I can't wait!

I am going to spend some time checking out your blog and the prayer requests. What a beautiful work of art you have here---the blog is so inviting. HUGS!

My lesson for the children at church on Sunday is the birth of baby Isaac. So the children will be making stuffed felt bears (a baby toy to remind them of Abraham's baby). If I could sew I would sew the edges closed. Since I can't I am using fabric glue. I'd really rather sew them though. I hope they turn out okay anyway. I bet your daughter's dress will be precious. Thanks for the coffee.

That's going to be so cute! I used to make simple dresses for my girls when they were young. You'll have to post a picture when it's done - looks like you do a lot of nice projects. :)

That is going to be so cute! What a great way to start on your dream business plan! :)

I have a dusty sewing machine in my closet...I think the last thing I sewed was some window treatments about 15 years ago. I love fabric glue and stitch witchery.

Great job on your blog, I'm so impressed!
